CLINIC # 28: 760 HIGHWAY FLASHER WIRING

Ideally, you should use two 696 track trips to operate the 760 Highway Flasher. One trip would be placed prior to the "highway" being protested, and the second trip would be placed beyond the highway. Thus, the flasher will begin to operate before the train reaches the highway, and it will continue to operate until after the final car passes.

If you only have one trip available, then place it as close as possible to the location of the 760 flasher.

1) Attach the trip(s) to the track such that the locking-lever is on the same rail as the BASE POST connection to your transformer.

2) Connect a wire from the clip on the 696 trip to either one of the terminals on the flasher.

3) Connect another wire from the other terminal on the flasher to the FIXED VOLTAGE post of your transformer.

4) IF you are using TWO 696 trips, then run a third wire between the two clips on the two 696 trips, connecting them to each other.

Every time a wheel passes over either of the trips, it will cause a momentary connection, activating the flasher.
