The Erie passenger set was produced in 1982 by Lionel. This PA engine operated very poorly, right from the factory. As a result, the factory identified the problem and produced a hardware upgrade kit to improve its performance. This upgrade kit was supplied to owners upon request, for free. 

If you own an Erie engine and it runs very poorly, it undoubtedly has never had this upgrade. But you can still do it yourself.

The kit included two replacement resistors; two heat sinks, a lead weight, and two pieces of double-sided adhesive. 

Although these kits are probably no longer available from Lionel, we can supply a complete kit for you to make this upgrade.

We have a limited number of them available, at $7.50

However, we actually recommend a different solution to the ERIE problem.
