American Models is a premier US-based manufacturer of S-scale (only) engines and rolling stock, both highrail and scale, located in Whitmore Lake, Michigan. Owner Ron Bashista started the business in the early 1980s, and has moved it multiple times as more and more space was needed for manufacturing and storage.

“AM” has made at least 13 different diesel engine models, and several steam engine models (although most of these steam models are currently out of production). They have also produced a wide variety of freight cars, as well as heavyweight, streamline, and Budd passenger car sets.
